4 Top Snack Picks for Watching Basketball this Weekend

The Hood Answer Mom, Elizabeth M. Ward, M.S., R.D.

The basketball games have begun! If you’re having a viewing party, or attending one (or more!), don’t make a move without delicious food to get you through long days of cheering on your favorite team. Plan on preparing simple, nutritious dishes that keep you energized, and out of the kitchen.

Here are my top picks for delicious snacks during this weekend's games!

Cucumber Avocado Salsa

Cucumber, avocado, and tomato team up for great taste and good nutrition.  Hood Light Sour Cream lends a creamy texture, while citrus juices and ground cumin supply a complexity of flavors. Serve with baked snack chips or fresh vegetables.

Smoked Salmon with Cucumber Salad

This dish is so elegant that partygoers will think you spent hours on it when it really takes just about 10 minutes to make. Salmon and Hood Cottage Cheese supply protein to keep you fuller for longer, and the salad is a welcome departure from they typical offerings.

Herbed Deviled Eggs

Not serving a main dish? No problem. Whip up a double batch of these delicious deviled eggs. You’ll score big with these smallish goodies. Hood Sour Cream makes them satisfying and delicious.

Broccoli and Cheese Calzone

There’s a secret weapon (whipped Hood Cottage Cheese) in our Broccoli and Cheese Calzone that we’re sure is what keeps people coming back for more. If you’re cooking for a large group,  make at least two calzone, slice, and have guests serve themselves.
