6 Ways to Lighten Up Spring Eating

6 Ways to Lighten Up Spring Eating

The Hood Answer Mom, Elizabeth M. Ward, M.S., R.D.

Spring has finally sprung! Now is the perfect time of year to start eating lighter foods with brighter flavors that energize you, and fill you up but not out.

Hood Mint Chip Lowfat Frozen Yogurt is a creamy frozen delight that’s delicious as is. It’s even more fun when combined with Hood Milk to make a Mint Chip Frozen Yogurt Milkshake, a refreshing treat that provides calcium and protein in addition to great taste.

Here are some more recipes to help you make a fresh start on healthier eating without giving up great taste:

Include more protein to help you feel fuller for longer, and to build and preserve muscle for warm weather activities.  Chive Scrambled Eggs is a delicious, quick protein-packed dish that’s perfect for any meal.

Pile on the produce.  A very colorful Simply Smart Very Berry Avocado Smoothie includes one and a half servings of produce! When cooking outdoors, give Grilled Mexican Corn a try.

Instead of meat or chicken, try Fish Tacos with Sour Cream Lime Sauce to help you and your family include the suggested two seafood meals a week.

Simplify meal times with dishes like this Grilled Chicken and Quinoa Bowl that you can assemble in minutes using leftovers, and is a meal in itself!
