5 Recipes for the Big Game Day

The Hood Answer Mom, Elizabeth M. Ward, M.S., R.D.

Football fans, I don’t have to tell you that the playoffs are underway and that the big game date is set!  We don’t know which teams will square off on February 3, but it’s never too early to focus on the menu for your viewing party. Whether you’re hosting or a guest, play to win with fare that’s perfect for watching football.

Score points with friends and family with dishes that feature delicious rich and creamy Hood Sour Cream, which is easier and more convenient than ever to use in the new Squeeze Bottle. Less fuss in the kitchen is always good idea, and especially on game day! You won’t miss one second of football with these grab-and-go party foods:

Baked Potato Pops. No party is complete without food on a stick! Cheesy and satisfying, these two-bite appetizers topped with sour cream are a blast to eat.

Layered Sour Cream Dip. These colorful personalized snacks can be prepared ahead of time. To serve, pair with sturdy snack chips.

Spicy Buffalo Cauliflower. In this recipe, sour cream counteracts some of the spiciness for a winning taste combination. Warning: this dish will disappear fast!

Avocado Egg Salad Sandwiches. Congrats! You snuck some vegetables into your game day menu. Cut each sandwich into four triangles and serve on a platter.

Monster Cookies. Colorful and crowd-pleasing, this dessert looks like a celebration on a plate! Sour cream is part of the perfect foundation for crunchy chocolate-covered candies, peanuts, and raisins.

Take every day favorites up a notch with Hood Sour Cream in the squeezable bottle with these quick and easy tips!

  • Use instead of mayonnaise in turkey and ham sandwiches.
  • Add to warm pasta sauce and mix thoroughly.
  • Easily top fruit desserts, like this Pear Cranberry Cobbler, with sour cream.
  • Prepare canned tomato or mushroom soup with Hood Milk and stir in a tablespoon of sour cream for every serving.
  • Add a tablespoon of sour cream to a smoothie for an extra zing.
