Fast & Easy Family Fare

September signals a return to routine, including regular weeknight meals for you and your family. Everyone's on a tight time budget in my household, and I'm always looking for shortcuts to great-tasting food without the fuss.

Hood Sour Cream is a staple ingredient you can use in a variety of delicious dishes that are ready in minutes, including good-for-you desserts. 
Here are some of my favorite ways to use sour cream.

Dill-y Sour Cream Dip and Dressing
Makes about 1 cup.

Make this dip and munch on it with fresh veggies while you're waiting for dinner. Double the recipe and use half as a dressing on another night.

1/2 cup Hood Sour Cream
1/4 cup light mayonnaise
1/4 cup lemon juice
1/8 teaspoon dried dill weed
fresh ground black pepper and salt, as desired

Place all ingredients in a medium mixing bowl. Whisk together until completely combined. To make dressing, thin with to desired consistency with more lemon juice.

Au Gratin Vegetable Bake combines whole grains and vegetables with the great taste of Hood Sour Cream. Serve as a meatless main dish or as a side dish.

Sour Cream Salsa Chicken  is on the table in less than 20 minutes and is sure to please everyone in the family. Serve with a green salad, rice, and Hood Milk for a balanced meal!

Sliced Peaches with Sour Cream and Brown Sugar
Makes 4 servings

4 cups sliced ripe peaches
2/3 cup Hood Sour Cream
1/4 cup brown sugar or other sweetener of your choice

Add 1 cup peaches to each of 4 small bowls. Spoon equal amounts of sour cream and brown sugar onto each serving of peaches.
