Candidates ranging in age from 9 to 13 were asked to answer the following essay question "Kids helping kids" is a big part of what Red Sox Kid Nation is all about. The Kid Nation Captains do a community service event each year to further this mission. What would you like the Kid Nation Captains to do to assist families in need?"The responses were inspiring. "We got some very unique and interesting answers to our 'Kids helping Kids' essay question. There are so many willing and qualified candidates out there," said Lynne Bohan, a Hood spokesperson. "It was very difficult to narrow it down to just 25 finalists! In the end, though, we felt that the 25 kids we selected really embody what we're looking for in a Red Sox Kid Nation Captain."Now it's up to Kid Nation members to decide who the 12 new Captains will be. STARTING TODAY: votes can be cast at RedSox.com/KidNation. The voting period will close at 9 pm on Friday, June 8th. The 12 new Red Sox Kid Nation Captains will be announced on or about June 11th.
