HP Hood and the Boston Red Sox Begin their Search for Kid Nation Captains

HP Hood and the Boston Red Sox announced today that they have begun accepting applications to fill the vacancies left by the 12 departing Red Sox Kid Nation Captains.If you or someone you know has what it takes to lead Kid Nation for the next two years, visit RedSox.com to complete the online entry form. Applicants must be between the ages of 10 and 14 years old (at time of entry) and must also be:- Crazy about the Boston Red Sox.- Committed to rallying fellow Kid Nation members to take part in community service events.- Willing to do whatever it takes to make Red Sox Kid Nation presented by Hood the best Kids' Club in all of Major League Baseball."The Captains play an important role-they serve as liaisons between Kid Nation and Red Sox Nation. They help get the word out about community service events, they cheer on the Red Sox, and they eat plenty of Hood Red Sox Ice Cream," said Lynne Bohan, a Hood spokesperson. Each of the newly elected Red Sox Kid Nation Captains will receive:- An exclusive Captains' packet featuring personalized Red Sox apparel An invitation to an inauguration ceremony on the field at Fenway Park prior to a Red Sox home game- A tour of Fenway Park and tickets to an upcoming Red Sox game- A private board meeting with Red Sox staff, executives and personalities- Free Hood Red Sox Ice Cream for a yearThe Captains main responsibility is to serve as Kid Nation representatives, providing ideas and program feedback while also furthering the "Kids Helping Kids" mission through community service. During their two years on the job, the outgoing Captains teamed up with Cradles to Crayons and Kid Nation members to collect and organize winter clothing for local children. They also collected over 8,000 school supply items, coordinated a backpack station at Boston Public School's sixth grade orientation, "Middle O!" and distributed backpacks to students in each New England state. Hood and the Red Sox would like to recognize all of the outgoing Captains for their tremendous efforts.
