Organizations are welcome to apply for in-kind donations for community events. Please note that organizations must apply at least four weeks in advance of your event date. Once selected, organizations will be notified as to how they can pick up their donation. Only one donation can be administered per year per organization. HP Hood LLC recognizes the concerns of our consumers related to the potential presence of undeclared allergens in food products. HP Hood does not have dedicated lines for manufacturing and packaging most allergen containing products**. Due to the known hazards that undeclared allergens pose to our consumers with food allergies, we have fully implemented allergen control programs at all of our manufacturing facilities to prevent cross contamination. These include: employee training, ingredient and product segregation, processing and packaging controls, labeling reviews, and verification/ validation programs.
In all facilities the allergen control programs have been reviewed and confirmed to meet and/or exceed industry standards and expectations by recognized third party auditing firms. All recognized food allergens contained in any of our products as per formulation are clearly identified in the ingredient declaration located on the lid, side or back panel of the package.
**Hood is pleased to produce Hood Ice Cream Sandwiches on a dedicated nut-free line. Please note that these lines are within our manufacturing facility and are not produced in separate room.
Research shows that when milk is exposed to light, it can cause off flavors to develop by a process called oxidation. Hood’s specially designed LightBlock Bottle uses technology that prevents more than 97% of light from penetrating the bottle, which protects the milk from light, helping to maintain its fresh taste.

There are many ways milk can be exposed to light, including: carrying milk home from the store, sitting on a countertop, on a store loading dock, or in the dairy case at a supermarket. The Hood LightBlock Bottle is made with pigment that prevents more than 97% of light from penetrating the bottle vs. only 27% in the clear bottle. So when you buy Hood Milk, you know your milk is being protected in the LightBlock Bottle.
Hood’s decision to use an opaque container was driven by our desire to better protect the fresh taste of the milk.
Hood is pleased to offer consumers and customers the option of milk from cows that have not been treated with artificial growth hormones (rBST). All Hood Milk, Buttermilk, Cream, Sour Cream, Cottage and Yogurt is from farmers who pledge not to use artificial growth hormones on their herds.
For all other Hood dairy products, supply and consumer demand are part of this answer. As consumer preference for rBST-free milk has increased, more dairy farmers have begun switching their practices to eliminate the use of artificial growth hormones. We will continue to monitor supply and consumer demand for milk from farmers who pledge not to use artificial growth hormones, and will make further changes in our production accordingly.

Cows naturally produce BST, bovine somatotropin, a hormone that's associated with milk production. An artificial version of this hormone was developed "rBST" (recombinant bovine somatotropin), which when injected into cows can increase milk production.

Beginning January 1, 2022, the USDA now requires food manufacturers to disclose information about whether food offered for retail sale uses Bioengineered (BE) food ingredients. A “bioengineered” ingredient is a food that contains genetic material that has been modified through certain laboratory techniques for the purposes of making it resistant to a pest or disease, or to enhance its nutritional value. At this time, only a handful of foods on the market are bioengineered, including some apples, canola, corn, eggplants, papayas, pineapples, potatoes and salmon.
