Operation Hoodsie Hits the Road for Its 15th Year

Lynnfield, MA (July 10, 2025)
This summer sees the return of Operation Hoodsie, a beloved community partnership in Boston between Hood and the Boston Police Department (BPD). Operation Hoodsie seeks to bring law enforcement officials closer to the communities they serve, and BPD will be making stops through Boston’s neighborhoods this summer, handing out free Hood ice cream treats.

Starting in 2010, Operation Hoodsie was launched to help build a stronger relationship between Boston’s youth and local police. Now, fifteen years later, the operation has grown significantly, including a custom ice cream truck donated by the Boston Police Department Foundation. Last year in 2024, HP Hood also received the Commissioner’s Commendation, for helping establish a better bond between the community and the Police department.

With the police department’s help, Operation Hoodsie is on track to distribute more than 100,000 ice cream novelties this year.

“This event is a great way for Hood to give back to the community,” says Lynne Bohan, Group Vice President of Communications and Government Affairs at HP Hood LLC. “It creates a common ground for everyone involved over a shared love of delicious ice cream treats.”

“Likewise, we are incredibly lucky to share this event with the Boston Police Department, who have been a fantastic partner every year,” Bohan adds.

The Operation Hoodsie truck will be on the road in Boston through the end of September. To stay updated on Operation Hoodsie and its stops around Boston, follow Hood’s Instagram at Instagram.com/hphood.
