February is American Heart Month
The Hood Answer Mom, Elizabeth M. Ward, M.S., R.D.February is American Heart Month, and feeding your loved ones right shows how much you care about their health and wellbeing. What matters to the heart also matters to the brain, and it’s good to know you can nourish both starting early in life. A balanced eating plan that features whole grains, including oatmeal, is one of the best ways to give the heart and brain what they need for peak performance.
A hectic schedule can make healthy eating a challenge, however. That’s why it’s best to have nutritious foods on hand for when it gets hectic in your household.
Banana Raisin Oatmeal Cups are easy to make, and serve as the basis for balanced meals and nutritious snack, too. Their goodness comes from whole grains, naturally-sweet fruit, a minimum of added sugar, and Hood 1% Lowfat Milk.
Make a batch for the week, and enjoy with a glass of milk and a piece of fruit. These oatmeal cups freeze well, so it’s worth doubling the recipe and saving some oatmeal cups for later!
