‘Lobsta’ Cobbler Lifts New Hampshire Woman to Win in Hood® Holiday Recipe Contest

Lynnfield, MA (February 26, 2009)

For the first time in the history of the Hood® Holiday Recipe Contest, savory has triumphed over sweet. That's what happens when you find a way to combine one of New England's favorite delicacies-lobster-with products made by New England's favorite dairy company, as Denise LaRoche, of Hudson, NH, was able to do with her "New England Lobsta Cobbler." LaRoche's recipe, which features Hood Half & Half, was selected as the grand prize winner after meticulous testing and tasting by a panel of judges from Yankee Magazine. As the grand prize winner of the Fourth Annual Hood Holiday Recipe Contest, LaRoche will receive a chef-prepared dinner party for 10 at her home. Three honorable mention winners were also selected: Linda Rohr, from Darien, CT; Marcy Kamery, from Blasdell, NY; and Jerri Husch, from Shelburne Falls, MA. Each will receive a $200 gift card. "This year's winning entry is a delicious and clever take on cobbler, and it stood out from the crowd," said Lynne Bohan, spokesperson for HP Hood. "We'd like to once again thank all of the entrants who participated by sharing such a great range of family recipes featuring Hood products." The Fourth Annual Hood Holiday recipe contest ran from Oct. 21, 2008 to Jan. 16, 2009. Contestants were required to use at least one of the following Hood Holiday products: Hood EggNog (all varieties), Sour Cream, Cottage Cheese, Cream, Country Creamer or Instant Whipped Cream (must be used in conjunction with another product). Contestants were judged according to the following criteria: originality, clarity of recipe instructions and ease of preparation. The contest was open to U.S. residents of Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island and Vermont. # # #
