HP Hood Calls on Communities throughout New England to Determine Hood® Good Sport® Scholarship Winners

Lynnfield, MA (April 02, 2010)

HP Hood has announced that its Hood Good Sport®* Scholarship Program has moved from the application phase to the voting phase. That means from now until April 30, the general public will play a role in determining which of the thousands of Hood Good Sport applicants will be named finalists. The top 15 vote-getters from each of the six New England states will compete for the three $5,000 grand prizes available in each state (18 total scholarships). "The 'Hood Good Sport Scholarship' program was established to recognize the many positive attributes of today's young adults by recognizing their good sportsmanship both on and off the field," said Lynne Bohan, a Hood spokesperson. "We encourage friends, family members and the community to visit by April 30 and cast a vote for your hometown Good Sports. You could help a high school senior in your community earn a $5,000 scholarship." The 15 students from each state who receive the most votes online will be interviewed in May by an independent panel of judges and three students from each state will be selected as winners. Scholarship winners will be honored by a Red Sox player at an awards ceremony and entered into the Hood Good Sport Hall of Fame.  Whether it's being gracious in victory or defeat, the measure of a good sport is in the integrity he or she displays on and off the field. Throughout their endeavors, these student athletes have experienced moments that have built character and defined identity.
