HP Hood to Award College Scholarships to 18 High School Seniors in New England

HP Hood, New England's leading dairy processor , is giving high school seniors in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont a chance to win big.Hood announced today that it will award three, $5,000 Hood® Good Sport™ Scholarships to high school seniors in each of the six New England states-a total of 18 scholarships worth $90,000."We're excited to be able to recognize and reward high school seniors throughout New England as they pursue their aspirations to attend college," said Lynne Bohan, spokesperson for Hood. "The 'Hood Good Sport Scholarship' program was established to recognize the many positive attributes of today's young adults by recognizing their good sportsmanship both on and off the field." The "Hood Good Sport Scholarship" contest is open only to seniors enrolled in a high school in one of the six New England states. Seniors must be attending an accredited college or university in the fall of 2010 and must meet the following criteria:- Minimum of a 3.0 GPA- Participated in a varsity sport in high school- Volunteered in his/her community- Displayed a high degree of sportsmanship while participating in high school sportsEntry forms will be accepted online at Hood.com now through March 19. Students will be asked to complete the entry form and write a short essay explaining why they are a good sport on and off the field.Voting will be open to the public beginning on March 29 and running through April 30 on Hood.com to determine 15 finalists from each state. Those finalists will then be interviewed by a panel of judges, who will determine the three final winners per state by the beginning of May.
